Spice.xyz November Update — What’s New
🔵 Updates and improvements to Spice.xyz — November 2022
Today we are excited to release two new datasets. The Prices Dataset and the DEX Liquidity and Events Dataset. We’re also releasing the ENS.eth (Ethereum Name Service) Dataset and ENS.domains Dataset previews this month.
In addition, we’ve made performance improvements for faster queries and now support exporting results in CSV file format. We round out the month with the release of our new website spice.xyz — bringing powerful utility (query directly on the home page!) and the Spice Story to our community of developers and partners.
🔵 Right around the corner
Looking ahead, we are launching the much anticipated Polygon Support in early December.
🗓 We are hosting a live fireside Q&A with Thomas Dohmke, CEO of Github on Sunday, December 11, 2022 in Sydney, Australia. Spots are limited so please RSVP early here.
✨ What’s New ✨
1. Prices Dataset 📈
Query historical High-Low-Open-Close (HILO) prices to minute precision with the new “prices” dataset. Join with other real-time and historical web3 data to do calculations and conversions back to USD. Initial data sources include Gemini, Coinbase, SushiSwap, and UniSwap (a mix of CEX, DEX, and third parties).
Like all other Spice datasets, you can fetch results in JSON and Apache Arrow, and now also CSV for easy use with apps, ML, or libraries like NumPy and Pandas.
Sample Scenarios:
A) DeFi builders can quickly retrieve the fiat valuation (e.g. in USD) at the time of transaction and at the last trade of a period averaged across the top 5 price providers.
B) NFT platform builders can easily incorporate all of their featured NFT collection’s valuations at the time of transaction.
Aggregate prices will be available in prices.eth which you can then drill down into a finer granularity by querying prices.eth.coinbase.
2. DEX Liquidity & Events Dataset 💱
You can now access indexed liquidity data from UniSwap [V2, V3] and SushiSwap liquidity pools, within seconds. This data is available both historically and in real time, providing unparalleled visibility on DEX liquidity pools.
For example, you can query for the liquidity of a token pair like USDC/WETH which indicates how much of each token is in the pool, i.e. how liquid it is.
Investors and builders can also navigate crypto asset complexities by leveraging different indexed events that these pools emit, including all Swaps (a trade from one token to another in a pool), Mints (adding liquidity to the pool) and Burns (removing liquidity from the pool).
See the UniSwap Events documentation for the full list here.
3. ENS Datasets 🪪 [Preview]
You can now preview the new dataset for Ethereum Name Service events, available by querying eth.ens. Within the dataset, you’ll find that each ENS event will have its own table as immutable data.
This also includes the new ens.domains dataset, which is updated in real-time to have the latest eth_address whenever a transfer or name-registered event happens.
Sample Scenarios:
A) NFT platform builders can easily track and reward users across their domains and subdomains.
B) Show app builders a friendly name when they only have an address on hand.
In addition, both eth.ens and other on-demand events indexed under the eth.ens prefix such as eth.ens_event_nameregistered, will be updated in real time with the same high-performance standards of published Spice datasets.
